An appreciation of comics, by Ray Cornwall

Why I Love Comics

About

Ray Cornwall has been interested in comics since his parents bought him those old Spider-Man book and record sets. Or was it that issue of Fantastic Four #200, bought at the 7-11 in Clementon? Maybe it was later, with that ratty copy of Jules Feiffer’s Tantrum discovered in his hometown’s tiny library. Who knows. What we do know now is that Cornwall and comics go together like steak and eggs, like Astaire and Rogers, like Breyer’s vanilla ice cream and…just about anything else. (Hey, it’s Breyer’s vanilla. Don’t knock it till you try it.)

Glenn Walker is my long-time friend, writing advisor, and all-around good guy to go to when you need a kick in the pants to get something finished. He’s responsible for so much great stuff on the web. Check out Comic Widows for more on Glenn, and take a peek at his Avengers reviews at Avengers Forever. And don’t forget to give him a hug.

Mailordercomics.com makes this site possible. No, they don’t pay for anything (although if you click on the link and try out their service, I do receive a referral fee). But they make comics affordable enough that I can buy more than I would otherwise. I’ve routinely saved 35% or so on my monthly orders. They also provide exceptional service; I’ve received emails at 4 am from the owner. And I’ve never gotten a badly packed order. I swear they have a cardboard fetish. You simply can’t ask for a better place to buy comics.
